Nebraska’s great water resource and plan for its use
County agent Ken Krieg notes Nebraska’s underground water supports agriculture while some areas waste it. The state soil and water conservation commission is drafting a state water plan. Dale Williamson will discuss the plan and possible water laws at the Polk County Irrigation Association annual meeting January 31.

Irrigators Short Course Announced With sessions in Columbus
Osceola city hall hosts a 1:30 p.m. meeting with coffee and rolls for attendees. A Columbus irrigators short course is set for February 15, 22, 29 and March 7 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Each session covers water resources, sprinkler systems, soil moisture, surface irrigation, crop irrigation, tillage, spacings, scheduling with resistance blocks, wells, pumps and power units, and practical problems.
