Mental Health Clinic Opens in Osceola for Countywide Services
After five months in operation the Polk County Mental Health Clinic reports a highly favorable response. The clinic now operates two days a week from 1 to 4 p.m. with Thursday afternoon openings and Monday afternoons. Appointments through Wilma Headrick with Jan Zegers on Thursdays and Dr. Rob Roy, now at Pioneer Center, in York. Psychiatric care by Dr. Eli Chesen also available in York.

Osceola wrestlers fell 33-30 to Palmer as Urban won at 145 and McMeekin, Runquist, Coffin, and Johnson contributed pins or decisons. New officers were elected by the Upper Big Blue NRD Board at a reorganizational meeting. Raymond Burke of Stromsburg was re-elected chairman Morris White of Ulysses was elected vice chairman Orval Eikenhorst of Osceola treasurer and LaVerne Peterson of York secretary. Directors met jointly Jan 16 to select a Big Blue River Basin representative to the Nebraska Natural Resources Commission Bruce Anderson of Stromsburg was chosen by the thirty directors at the basin caucus to fill the NNRC post.

Osceola built on a 32-29 halftime lead to defeat Sutton 66-56 on home court. Doyle Nelson scored 20 points while Jeff Johnston added 14 and Daryl Nelson 12 as the Bulldogs shot 50 percent and outrebounded 26-19. Gary Trautman led SHS with 21 points as the Mustangs struggled with 17 turnovers and 43 percent shooting. The OHL reserves also beat SHS 64-46 to run their record to four wins, one loss.
