Ray Haslings thanks friends and relatives for flowers, cards, and gifts during his hospital stay and thanks neighbors for help on the farm while he was away. Mr Myron Hanson and wife returned from California to visit Mrs Morgan and Mrs Rutter spent a week with Mrs Fornander during her hospital stay.
Members of the Birthday Club and their families held their annual family supper Friday at the Louis A. Schmidt home. Several local residents and relatives attended, with neighbors and extended families gathering for the event.
District 54 notes Diane Lynn Schiparell born last Wednesday in Osceola to Mr and Mrs Donald Schiparell. Family praises new California move of Omachi clan January 2. Local gatherings include Mrs Walter Buchholz funeral in Osceola and travels to Omaha for family returns. District 54 pupils greeted by six mothers during visit to school. Community ends with sadness over unclear note.
Death of Edward Staroska reported Thursday morning with funeral Monday in Silver Creek. Survivors include wife, a son and daughter, plus brothers and nephews. Local visits, gatherings, and club activities detailed among the Maple Leaf Club, family visits near Bradshaw and Clarks, and a Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church schedule with choir practice and installation of new board members January 28.
Richard E. Smith of Omaha was a weekend visitor with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Clyde E. Smith.
New Year dinner guests at the Frank Kula home near Silver Creek included Mr and Mrs John Voichaske and their daughters. Other weekend visits featured the Carlson and Helms families, a roller skating party at Midway Hall, and a bridal shower for Lucille Palick. Kenneth Osentowski enlisted in the navy and heads for training Friday. Doris Karges, Kathleen Murphy, and others enjoyed a sleigh ride night.
Mr and Mrs Tom Rutter and Mark of Omaha and Shirley Nelson were guests Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs Dave Rutter and their children.
The Methodist Church lists Thursday 7 30 p m Boy Scouts at the cabin. Sunday 10 a m Sunday School 11 a m Worship Service and 7 p m Family Night Supper. Steve Georgeau will speak on My Summer in Greece. Attendees bring own service and a covered dish. coffee provided.
