Alex Shank left Polk county for Florence Colorado around December 1 and died near Beulah. The funeral was held Tuesday at Beulah. Prof Dea Aldhypndi gave two entertainments at the house last week. The sugar factory may rely on beets for contracts next year as suggested by the Grand Island Independent. The Hall county beet acreage is expected to rise next season and contracts may be secured.

A planned gathering honored George Engelhardt and his wife at their home four miles northwest of Odceols. About thirty five German friends attended, arriving around 11:30 bearing filled baskets. A bountiful dinner followed by games and amusements continued into the evening.
