Prairie Hills Girl Scout cookie drive to fund programs and camp

Girl Scout troops in the Prairie Hills Council will take orders for cookies and sesame crackers this week with delivery from February 27 to March. Each troop earns 25 cents per box and proceeds support troop programs Camp Crossed Arrows improvements and Wider Opportunities. Girls can earn camperships by selling 50 boxes, patches awarded for over 25. Neighborhood chairmen are Mrs Jan Grossnicklaus and Mrs Kenneth Kuhnel of Shelby.

Cornerstone Box Contents From 1912 Revealed At 1976 Board Meeting

Osceola Board of Education opened a sealed metal box behind the 1912 cornerstone at the junior-senior high school. Patrons faculty and Boy Scout Troop 162 watched as 1912 papers signatures and newspapers were uncovered to be possibly integrated with current records. The contents were damp with a musty odor and discussions followed about public display or preservation.

Lions Plan 1975 Activities And New Member Welcome

Eighteen members attended the regular Lions dinner at city hall as Eugene Sterup conducted the meeting and welcomed new member Henry Galus who received a new member folder. The group voted to donate to Leader Dogs and to set up and tear down Bloodmobile equipment on Tuesday. Discussion covered the District Convention at Norfolk on Feb 1 the annual pancake feed at the end of March and White Cane Day in April.
