Hazel Burns died Tuesday morning at Annie Jeffrey Hospital after a recent illness. She had been a patient the past weeks and earlier a resident at Good Samaritan Home since November 1967. Funeral arrangements are pending at Kepner Roberts Funeral Home.
Melissa Mills Cotter is welcomed as a new member of the Cotter family born at Lincoln General Hospital weighing 8 pounds 10 ounces to Mr and Mrs Eugene D Cotter Jr Grandparents are Mrs Marian Cotter and Mr and Mrs Ivar Oberg
John Rogers died December 26 in Sacramento California. Burial occurred December 28. News reached Mr and Mrs Don Byers who spoke with Mrs Rogers by telephone Saturday evening. The Rogers family ran a clothing store in Osceola for many years before relocating to California in January 1940.
Funeral services for Donald Miller of Harbor City California brother of Earle and Robert Setee will be held Thursday night at Kepner Roberts. The service note indicates a prostation project end and a wake at home.
Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Hospital has been awarded a three year accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals. The certificate, effective until September 1971, confirms the hospital meets strict standards in staff, records, library, dietician, pharmacist, radiologist and emergency readiness, and underscores community pride in high quality patient care.

Harold L. Davis a lineman serviceman at Osceola for Consumers Public Power District received a 10 year service emblem. R H Corbers York district manager presented the emblem. Davis began with the district January 1, 1969 as a lineman at York and was named to his Osceola position February 1, 1961.
Tom Hofbauer announces leasing of the Osceola Feed Mill complex to his son in law Charles G Racers effective January 2. Racers has 14 years at the mill and will be a qualified manager. Hofbauer began operating the mill in 1949 and details include past payroll and tax figures.

Mrs Warren Umshler of Chadron was chosen Secretary Treasurer of the Clerk of the District Court at the county officials meeting in Omaha She has served two years as Deputy and twelve years as Clerk of the District Court of Dawes County indicating continued public service in Nebraska The election was conducted by the Division of the Nebraskan Association of County Officials.
At a Dec 30 meeting about 15 members elected Chris Dahmke Orval Elkenhorst and Art McVeigh to the chamber board replacing Phil Nyberg Harold Pearson and Howard Daily. January 6 board vote kept Richard Klein as president for a third year with committee chairs named: Business Promotions Bill Zedicher Don Cerny Finance and Budget Art McVeigh Roads and Signs Tom Hofbauer Closing Calling Attendance Ticket Sales Chris Dahmke Community Improvements Orval Bikenhorst Secretary Treasurer Glen Green.
Northern Natural Gas Company filed July 26 1968 for rate increases to start February 10 1969. Cengas Osceola manager says residential heating bills will rise about 3.5 cents per day and minimum charges go from 1.50 to 1.75, affecting only communities served with Northern purchased gas.
Earl Schilling of Grand Island died after a heart attack at 3 a.m. Monday and passing at 8 p.m. the same day in a local hospital. He is survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Tom Schmo ker. Funeral arrangements are pending as the Schmokers spent Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Schilling.
