Mr and Mrs I A Swanson enjoyed a surprise party Sunday by about four dozen friends and neighbors for their fifteenth wedding anniversary. Ed Swanson learned he had been a benedict so long when confronted with the fact, and guests arrived bearing a cargo of food and cheer. Before departing, the company presented the couple with a fine china closet as a token of neighborly regard.
The Woodmen held their annual banquet at the lodge rooms last night and enjoyed a hearty feast. A standout feature was a solo by Mr. R. R. Heald whose performance pleased local audiences and is regarded as the best yet, making his number essential to any Osceola program.
Gust E Matson died of pneumonia at his home three miles east of the city this afternoon. He served in Co H 1st N N G. A military funeral will be held at the Lutheran Church at 11 o'clock on Sunday.
The county Sunday school convention urges every school to send delegates to Stromsburg March 5 and 6 with state workers Miss Margaret E Brown and W H Kimberley on hand to assist. Officials and teachers are urged to prepare reports and apportionments for the event.
