Osceola Shoe Stock Sale After Eklund Lease Loss

Monson Co. buys the stock from Osceola merchant Swan O. Eklund who could not secure a new location. The sale starts Friday at 9 o'clock with stock on tables priced about 60 cents on the dollar. Buyers may fit themselves as clerks wrap and box purchases. The move follows the building’s remodel by new owners and high shoe prices.

Lawrence Gambeach Dead After Long Illness

Lt. Lawrence Gambeach a farmer living five miles southeast of Silver Creek died Friday after a lingering illness from diseases. Born in Poland nearly seventy years ago he married Mary Plebanek and came to the United States with her about a year later. He moved to this community and spent the last thirty-five years on a Polk county farm. He left a wife and eight children Katia Borys Josie Sacuph Anna Sutka John Frank Mary Victoria Agnes all residing nearby. Funeral services were at Pilsno Catholic church on Monday February 12 conducted by Rev. FY Alexander, with burial in the parish cemetery Silver Creek Sard

Pioneer settlers gather at Red Lion for Bangston funeral

The Red Lion community honors Albert Bangston born in Sweden January 5 1847 died in Denver Colorado February 11 1947 at age 70. He helped Nebraska and Colorado’s pioneer development and supported neighbors throughout his life. Funeral services were held February 15 at the Polk home of his sister Mrs G A Widga with ministers A H Nickell and Q F Tornquist officiating. He is buried in Laclede cemetery.
