The South Shelby Local Achievement Day will be held at Mrs Johnson's on February 23. Last Monday the club met at Mrs Lots to quilt with nine ladies present. A lovely cafeteria style dinner was served. The men helped with the babies and enjoyed the meal.

Mrs. Swan Mattson Dies After Illness at 59
Mrs. Swan Mattson died at her Osceola home after a two week pneumonia illness. Born October 14 1868 in Jamshog Sweden she immigrated with her parents to New Jersey in 1881 and later lived in Sidney Nebraska before moving to Osceola in 1907. She is survived by her husband Swan Mattson daughter Mrs Carl Cederberg and two brothers S W swanson and Charles Swanson with other relatives noted. She was active in St Pauls Lutheran Church and died peacefully about 1 30 Tuesday morning after a prolonged illness.

Ice Damages Platte River Bridge Near Duncan
Ice carried boulders damaged the old bridge and harmed the new span under construction. The south channel bridge is partly washed away as Platte River waters run high. About 100 acres of hayland near Columbus reported underwater.
