Stromsburg notes recap visits and travel of residents. Larson of Ceresco returns home after four weeks visiting Stromsburg area. Several locals visit relatives in Osceola and Benedict. others travel to Lincoln Omaha Kansas City and Chicago for work and stock. ministerial daughter Gabrielson visits home between missionary duties in India.
Rep Sloan defends William Jennings Bryan amid a floor clash with Rep Miller of Minnesota who labeled Bryan an “interned” type and equated him to Civil War copperheads. Sloan, who has opposed Bryan on many issues, urged restraint and asked lawmakers to let Congress deliberate before labeling patriotism.
The Presbyterian church announces a Sunday evening sermon on The Crucial Test with a special song service. Morning services include Sunday school and a sermon titled More Than Others led by Pastor J. Asmus. All are welcome at these gatherings.
Sunday School and Bible Classes are set for next Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. Services follow at 11 o'clock in the forenoon and 7 30 in the evening. Evening services will be in English. The Harmony society meets next Wednesday afternoon at 2 30 at the home of Mr and Mrs C O Walgren.
Six blocks from the court house square a four room house on a good lot available for cash two thousand dollars or two thousand two hundred on easy terms. For further particulars inquire at the Record office OBIT.
On Wednesday February 7 a handbag containing money and valuable papers was found and left with the office. Finder is asked to leave it at this office in Osceola. Mrs Eva Johnson noted as contact.
James B Gilbert born October 10 1866 in Canton County Kentucky died February 1 1917 at his Osceola home after a three year illness. He lived in Jasper and Polk counties before settling in Osceola in 1910 where he served two terms as county commissioner and two terms as city councilman. He was active in I O F and Royal Highlanders. He leaves a wife, an aged father in Grand Island, five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held February 4 at the Methodist church with I O O F attended and burial in Osceola cemetery.

Newman ill but improving. Mrs. D. H. Westfall recovering from appendicitis. Sundberg, Fosberg, and Jones visit Lincoln with Jones brothers at state university. A W Shafer hosts Sunday school class with musical selections and oyster luncheon for seventeen members.
The Davis girls who were killed en route to Omaha with their little sister return home Monday evening. Local families, church events, and community notes fill Shelby and surrounding areas with updates on visits, illnesses, cattle shipments, and school closures due to blizzard conditions.
Vertie Clark John Rathbun and others from Lincoln visited Shelby during registration week with multiple relatives in Columbus Rising City and Osceola. A high school basket social raised 42 dollars for a football debt while Revival services at the Methodist church drew attendees aided by Prof. Davidson.

Macbeth school basket copper netted $37 to buy an organ and clock. Miss Eda Wieseman guest of Leona Nanthes. Nellie Fusby visits Mrs T E Richmond. Mrs Ed Burgess visits Jud Bartlett. Thelma Leshee visits Mary Anderson. Mr and Mrs Frank Joy, Bert Lewis and Icar Heafsherg attend a local entertainment Saturday. The Digmegga Tasket supper a great success with talent shown.
