Osceola Fire Limit Ordinance Restricts Building Materials

An Osceola Nebraska ordinance sets fire limits from blocks one through eleven and part of East addition, requiring brick or stone construction with metal or brick roofs and permits from the Board of Trustees. Violations incur fines up to 100 dollars and daily offenses. The measure repeals prior fire limit rules and takes effect upon passage and publication. The document includes signatures of H. Died C C Joy Resident of Osceola and Shelby

C C Joy aged 73 died at his son B F Joy's residence in Shelby on a Wednesday in February 1894. Born in 1820 in Ohio he moved to Iowa in 1857 and to Osceola in 1881 where he lived with his family. He was a longtime Methodist and devout Christian. The funeral took place at the Osceola Presbyterian church Thursday at 2 PM conducted by Rev Whitmer of the M E church.

Tragic Nebraskan Hunting Accident Kills 12YearOld

In Silver Creek Nebraska on February 5 1894 two sons of H Wilson and one of Bob McQueens were hunting when the elder Wilson 17 discharged his gun fatally striking the younger Wilson 12 in the face and neck the blast passing through and wounding the McQueen boy no serious injury Dr Jones arrived but the boy died before he could be treated Parents were away and learned of the tragedy on their return hours later
