Mid-Year Commencement at Nebraska Grants 850 Degrees

Patricia Dunn Rittenhouse and David Rutter received mid-term degrees from the University of Nebraska January 31. Rittenhouse earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and Rutter a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. The Pershing Auditorium ceremony in Lincoln marked the largest mid-year commencement in university history with about 850 degrees awarded.

Harbours to mark 40th wedding anniversary at Osceola Legion

Osceola residents are urged to join an open meeting on Monday February 9 at 8:00 p.m. in Osceola City Hall to begin a local history publication for the 1970 Centennial. Mrs. Raymond Lindblade attended the Area Crusade meeting in York on January 27 where plans for the Spring Crusade Drive were discussed. A preview of the film Journey Into Darkness was shown as Polk County aims for 2500 dollars and Nebraska targets 350000 dollars under the theme giving everyone an opportunity to give. Nebraska Fair Managers Convene Annual Meeting in Lincoln

The Nebraska Fair Managers annual meeting convened in Lincoln over two days. Attendees included Richard Klein Ray Conrad and Allen Anderson with Henry Galus and Glen Petersen present on day one. New eating codes require enclosed screen cooking areas and Polk County board approved a demolition derby as a fair feature. Polk County fair runs July 26 to 30.
