Taps Sounded For Myron Brown

Myron James Brown born July 9 1843 in Hort Ann New York died December 19 1928 at 85 5 10 he married Lucia M Shaw January 24 1866 surviving eight children nineteen grandchildren and one great grand child He served in the 96th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War including time in Florence and Andersonville prisons He moved to Nebraska in 1871 and Osceola area later retiring to Scottsbluff He was a pioneer voter registrar and long time school board member Funeral conducted at the Methodist Church with Rev Handel Collier delivering the service

Holiday visitors fill Osceola area homes

Numerous locals spent Christmas and holidays with relatives across the region. A. A. Beatty and many others from Omaha Petersburg Silver Creek Gothenburg and surrounding towns visited family in Osceola Emerson Staplehurst and Stromsburg while teachers and musicians returned home for vacation. A free picture show and dance at the Osceola Auditorium drew a large crowd and enjoyed a lively post event dance.
