Osceola Garden Club will meet next Tuesday evening for a Christmas party at the home of Lulu Ward. Lulu Hendrick's son will assist the hostess. Each member is asked to contribute something for the program.
Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Mouden visited Lincoln on business Saturday. Carolyn Thompson from York stayed with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Hastings, and her grandfather traveled Sunday to bring her home. Miss Ruby Walgreen from Omaha visited Osceola with her mother Mrs. Martha Walgreen over Friday night through Sunday.
John Cerny attended a salesman school in Lincoln related to his work at Reece Trac ing and Equipment Company. Sunday visits included Mr and Mrs Joe Peterson and Gerald of Wahoo with Mr and Mrs Phil B Campbell. R F Steenbach of Polk stayed with Don Johnson and family Friday.
OHS presented O H S Dick Sterup with a World Herald All-State Football Team award. Osceola and David City opened basketball with David City winning 35 to 23 and 41 to 22, broadcast on KLMS. Pep Club entertainments, Christmas party plans, and alcohol education films noted. A ventriloquist program by Ben Hammond featured drawings and chalk art. FFA initiation planned. freshmen and sophomores worked on home economics projects and luncheons for teachers scheduled. Student projects included etiquette, baking, and garment making. Local budget items and holiday schedule approved. meeting adjourned.
The Board of Education of District No 19 held a regular meeting on Monday December 5 1949 with all members present. Minutes from the prior meeting were read and approved. Claims paid included The Gas Co Virginia Monson Macmillan Co Brodhead Garrett Co Oberg Son Donald E Monson Consumers P P Dist and others for gas substitute teaching shop supplies project visits and current merchandise.
In Polk County Nebraska a petition for probate of the last will and testament of Theodore Spitz deceased has been filed and Nora Spitz is named as executrix. The hearing is set for December 30, 1949 at 10 oclock. County Judge L M Merrick issued the notice.
