Dr. Ray Leibee dies after heart attack in California
Dr. Ray Leibee of Burney California died December 7 following a heart attack at nearly 70. He leaves wife Vera Miller Leibee two daughters Maxine and Lucille and two grandchildren. Born in Shelby he practiced in Polk and Beatrice before moving to Burney where he worked until retirement. He and his wife had traveled abroad recently and attended by his sister Mrs Thelma Anderson of Nebraska.

Two AWOL Navy men sentenced for auto theft
Dist. Judge H Emerson Kokjer heard two criminal cases last week involving Ronald Webb 19 of Central City and Jon Freid 17 of Minneapolis who escaped from Osceola jail on Nov 11 and stole a local resident Holly Grossnicklaus’s car. Webb was captured at Holdrege and Froid Loomis. They received sentences of 18 months to three years at the Men's Reformatory in Lincoln.

Henry Johnson Dies Suddenly at Lincoln
Funeral services were held at Wesley Methodist Church in Shelby for Henry Johnson 78 who died December 9 at his Lincoln home. Burial followed in Osceola Cemetery. A retired farmer who lived northwest of Shelby, he left children Donald Johnson and Mrs Gordon Halvicsek of Lincoln and Mrs Regis Lean of Wellfleet. Deceased was a brother in law of Mr and Mrs Martin Scholz.
