Devil's Nest in Knox County Nebraska A Wilderness Tale

The Devil's Nest area east of Niobrara in Knox County Nebraska is a rugged, wooded region once avoided for farming and linked to outlaws like Jesse James. Early records note James Mackay and the Lewis and Clark expedition passing through. Legends surround Maiden's Leap, later proven a joke. The area now borders Lewis and Clark Lake with a recreational area under construction.
