Osceola news notes visitors, bank promos, and county events. Local visits scope Pontiac to Lincoln and Omaha expos. Fly nets by Geo R McCoy, 20 percent off shirts, and upcoming church socials. Osceola Bank promotes low farm loan rates. Osceola announces Osceola Fair prep and Romine Dental visits September 1-7.
A. E. Rhunka of Osceola and Mrs. M. J. Thomas hosted visitors while Clint Arnold travelled to Omaha for the exposition. E. Haas left for New York to stock fall and winter goods. S. H. Welch visited Wayne Nebraska to scout settling for a jewelery business. Frank Fugate of Minneapolis visited Osceola and Blanche Mahany Tice arrived to see relatives.
In Hack berry precinct last Friday Louis Thomas and his brother set trash afire while plowing. The blaze burned a stable and caused the smothering of a sow and five pigs, plus fifteen acres of oats for Mr. Nelson. In Grasham county line a barn fire started by two boys caused total loss. little other damage occurred. A local remedy endorsement is included for Chamberlains Cough Remedy.
English service at the Sw. Ev. Luth. Swede Home church Sunday afternoon features sermons by Rev. P. J. Brodine president of the Neb. Conference and Rev. Dr. O. Olson president of Aug. College and Theol. Sem. Services start at 3 30 p m with J E Norpirna as pastor. Reports from Manila confirm Wm. Lewis of the first Nebraska was killed though later notes suggest his safety.
Telegram from Washington informs L A Beltzer that his son Charles was wounded in action near Manila and listed as slightly wounded on Aug 2. Nebraska troops suffered one death and several wounded around that date, with William P Sears named as the fallen soldier though the roll seems in error. The notice also promotes Dr King’s New Discovery with testimonials and a free trial at D H Kunkel’s Drug Store.
The Union Pacific announces a greatly reduced round trip fare of 20.60 for the annual G A R encampment in Cincinnati in September. Tickets must read via Union Pacific and time tables and information are available locally.
Florida hosts the famed East er Lily with ground white in bloom and thousands picked by colored children for market. Mrs. F. A. Warner of Saginaw Michigan offers two or three lily bulbs by mail for postage, promising more bulbs on return to Florida next fall.
The Rev. W. B. Costley of Stockbridge Georgia was attacked with cholera morbus while in Ellenwood Georgia. He credits Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy with saving his life saying it gave immediate relief. For sale by G. T. Ray & Co.
John Mathias, a Pulaski Kentucky stock dealer, suffered a week with flux. After doctors failed to relieve him he tried Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy and reports that half a bottle cured him. Sold by G T Ray & Co.
Mr C A Hare of Hare Bros Fin castle Ohio describes a severe cholera morbus attack last summer. After two or three doses of Chamberlain's Colic Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy he was relieved within hours and resumed work. He recommends the remedy to others with stomach or bowel trouble. John Oliver of Philadelphia describes a near fatal illness with yellowing skin and pain. After three physicians and friends advised Electric Bitters, one bottle brought rapid improvement and he credits the remedy with saving his life. Sold at D. M. Kunkel's Drug Store for 50 cents a bottle.
