Butz outlines 1974 wheat program features and payments
Secretary Earl L. Butz announced the 1974 wheat program designed to spur production with no set-aside or conserving base requirements for four years. A new target price of 2.05 dollars per bushel determines payments, with no preliminary payment and post December 1, 1974 disbursement. The program sets a 55 million acre allotment and limits total payments to 20 thousand dollars per producer, plus loans at 1.37 dollars per bushel.
