Increases Planned for Old Age and Blind Assistance
Beginning September 1949 the maximum payments for Old Age and Blind Assistance rise to 55 dollars and 60 dollars respectively under the new law. Payments remain based on actual needs, so only cases meeting or exceeding these new maximums are affected. The higher limits will ease situations where medical needs or high rents push costs beyond prior caps.
