Valuation of all Railroads Lowered 5th Straight Year
Nebraska State Board of Equalization lowered railroad valuations for tax purposes for the fifth year in a row. Governor Morrison cited loss of business and financing costs as factors. Railroads including Illinois Central and Union Pacific faced multi‑million dollar reductions while Pullman was set at 132 920 dollars, 35 percent of value. The Nebraska Safety Council proposes a driver composite warning for holiday traffic peaks.
