Excitement and disasters mark Osceola weekend events
Last Friday evening a fire at the Louis Tworek farm destroyed a barn full of hay and machinery after slick roads hindered response. Later heavy rains flooded Osceola, prompting warnings and calls for dam improvements to alleviate future damage. The County Fair opened with exhibits, midway rides, wrestling, and lighthearted crowd notes. A mink ranch visitor asked about skins, while a local fisherman recovered a reel handle from a northern pike caught in a gravel pit.
