He was drafted October 8 1943 and trains as a radio technician in the Signal Corps after graduating from the Signal Corps school at Athens Georgia with further training in Florida Texas and California.

Mrs. Sarah Hoffer dies in Utah at 68
Mrs. Sarah R. Hoffer born February 17 1875 in Hamburg Iowa died April 15 1943 in Provo Utah aged 68 after a long illness. She moved with her family to Polk County Nebraska in 1885 and married Samuel Hoffer January 12 1897. Survived by four sons Wesley LeRoy Orla Samuel and one daughter Nellie Bingham seven grandchildren and two siblings. Funeral services held at Kepner Funeral Home with Rev John Herrmann officiating and burial in Hoffer cemetery.
