Local residents visited relatives in North Loup and Stromsburg while others traveled to Grand Island for a N16 L A convention. Guests hosted include the Lunner, Leibee, Gosnell, Hastings, and Johnson families with bridge parties and social gatherings noted throughout the week. Charles Rogers announces marriage to Clara Downs and Wm O Johnson suffers a serious auto accident with hospital treatment and cautious recovery prospects reported.
The week starting May 2 is set as clean-up week in Osceola. The City Community Club and Woman's Civic Council urge residents to burn trash, gather rubbish to street or alley, and have it ready by Wednesday evening for collection Thursday and Friday. Volunteers and district coordinators listed will oversee areas, urging homes to keep yards clear and buildings painted, with grass trimmed to improve the city’s health and appearance.
Harmony of the Lutheran Church hosts a food sale Saturday evening May 7 at Anderson Mere Co. venue. Proceeds support church activities and community programs.
Beginning next week Osceola Stores will remain open Wednesday evenings. Come in and hear the band concerts at the storefronts and local venues in town this season.
M O McLaughlin former congressman for Nebraska Fourth district retires from the House on March 4 and is honored by the Committee on Agriculture with a specially engraved framed resolution praising his eight years of loyal service. He rests in York after illness, plans business matters and summer lectures.
STROMSBURG Mrs P J Allgren and Mrs Axel Hallin visited Mr Albert Pierson on Tuesday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Axel Hallin drove to Silver Creek Sunday to spend the evening with her sister Mrs Walter Cremeen and husband. Mrs A V Eielson and son and Mrs Ray Hunsaker drove to York on Tuesday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Eric Forslund drove to Lincoln on Tuesday returning the next day. Mr and Mrs L H Headstrom left for Des Moines Iowa to visit son Raymont and family for a couple weeks. Frank Anderson of Thompson arrived Saturday for a visit with his sister Mrs Louisa Wallin and family. Mrs Gahn of Hartford Conn returned from Schuyler and is visiting at Victor Anderson home. Mr and Mrs C Ty Moline drove to York Friday to take daughter Ruth Alice to hospital for tonsil removal. Merwin Johnson drove to Lincoln Tuesday returning with wife visiting relatives. Dr M D Strong and daughters Helen and Carol and son Maurice drove to Lincoln Saturday and returned the same evening. Mrs Palm and Mr and Mrs James Fasbender and family of Surprise visited at Albert Hillberg’s home.
Local residents share visits and travel notes including Lowell Fineey family returning to Arcadia on Wednesday. George Heinemeyer and family visited York. Mallanger of David City in the area Monday. Merritt Graham of Clarks visited Jene Fineey Sunday. Blanche Snyder returns from assisting Mrs Jacobson near Stromsburg to visit parents before summer in Pennsylvania. Several small gatherings and social visits noted alongside illness update for Lucy Carlson and student attendance at Silver Creek Senior play.
The Young Women's Missionary Kensington met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs N. QO. Brown. Mrs. Luther Lindquist and Miss Hattie Newcomer assisted as hostesses in the gathering.
Drama Department of the Osceola Woman's Club takes first prize for presenting act four of King Lear at the Fairbury district convention. York and Osceola were the only competitors. six districts work on different acts for a September state convention in Kearney. A Monday meeting at the High School Auditorium featured delegate Mrs A Snider reporting on the convention and the club's performance.

The second annual meeting of the Rebekah Lodges of the fourteenth District convened in Shelby on Tuesday April 19 1927 with about 150 officers and members present. Jessie Hewitt presided and Margaret Gilmore was elected president for the coming year. A banquet followed and the day featured a flag ceremony and vocal soloists.
Mr and Mrs Rudolf Urban and family joined Frank Messing family for Sunday. Numerous guests visited and traveled to York Stromsburg and other nearby towns for church dedications and family gatherings with the Ingalls, Treadways, Brighams, Knight, and several others noted.
Students dress in aprons and hair ribbons for girls and overalls with red bandanas for boys as the school designates Apron and Overall week. Readiness and school spirit are highlighted through the costume theme.
The Methodist church schedules a quarterly communion next Sunday with Epworth League at seven and an evening service at eight. Sunday School starts at ten. members are urged to attend on time and bring World Service pledges to the pastor or council. courthouse square walk construction noted and local visits reported from Stromsburg and Lincoln.
North Swede home records show a Luther League program hosted by Mrs Esther Johnson and Mrs Edwin Johnson. A mission meeting occurred at Swede Home Church and local officials traveled to Lincoln on business.
The Happy Health Cooking Club held a Saturday meeting at Swede Home on April 24 with eight members present. Officers elected for the year are Vera Johnson president Doris Toline vice president Laura Peterson secretary treasurer. Program committee members are Ruby Johnson Irene Jones and Doris Toline. Mr. Kelly attended and shared information. Refreshments were served by Ruby Anderson and Vera Johnson.
Catechumens meet at the parsonage at 10:00 on Saturday for fore noon. The Second Sunday after Easter offers a 10:00 Sunday School, 11:00 Swedish Morning Service, and 8:00 English Service with The Lord is my Shepherd. Board of Trustees meets Monday the 2nd at 8:00 in the church. Choir gathers Tuesday 8:00, Ladies Aid meets Thursday 2:30 led by Mrs Anton Anderson and Mrs Andrew Paterson.
