In a televised appeal President Wilson asks every American to unite for democracy in world war. He emphasizes industrial mobilization, food production, shipbuilding, and farm labor, urging farmers and workers to boost supplies and efficiency to sustain troops abroad. He calls all ages to join the nation’s effort.
An old style advertisement urges readers to be prepared for accidents with Dr Thomas Eclectic Oil. It claims thousands rely on the product and notes it is sold by druggists in 25 and 50 cent sizes.
Washington reports a flood of requests from rural areas to join Red Cross war work. The campaign urges small towns to organize chapters or auxiliaries, enlist at two dollars, and donate cash or goods. Volunteers will train in bandage making and sick room supply preparation.

Chris Christenson and Pearl from Hordville to York. Signe Samuelson of Osceola visits Stromsburg friends. Old J A Olson residence is torn down for a new building. Frank Anderson contracts the carpentry. Knerr and Mrs Young to York to visit Archie Knerr in hospital. Archie ill but improving. Sam Reitz party from Waverly and others travel home after death of Mrs Jennie Deeter near Silver Creek. Mrs N L Shipley from Lusk Wyoming visits old Stromsburg friends. she was Miss Fink long time depot operator. James Martin returns from Illinois after Thanksgiving trip. he has relatives there. Mrs Martin spent summer and winter there, returning months ago. Mr and Mrs Nathan Howard spent four months with Mrs W
Son's parents Rev and Mrs C A Hemberg of Riverside California returned home Friday morning. They spent most of their time in Riverside and traveled across the state. The fact they drove a Dodge is noted as evidence they enjoyed the rides. Nathan has returned to the bank where friends greet him again.
Nebraska editors extend a cordial invitation to Iowa and South Dakota press colleagues to join Omaha for the annual Nebraska Press Association gathering. The event features Ak-Sar-Ben activities and a Tuesday program with Walter Williams of Missouri University and Herman Black, Chicago American publisher, promising worthwhile speaking engagements.
Sixty two state officials and agricultural college representatives from thirty two states met in St Louis April 9 and 10 to push food conservation and increased production. They warned the wheat shortage and Argentine embargo could force a world shortage, urging more corn and spring wheat, oats, barley, beans and potatoes with reliable seed and breeding stock conserved. A new Osceola store publication debuts next week, showcasing fashion, recipes and ads under A. O. Monson Co. management with editor C. A. Olson guiding a yearly monthly issue.
About 125 people attended the fellow ship meeting last Thursday evening. Visiting pastors from Polk Stroms burg and York delivered messages on Church Efficiency. L O Jones spoke on the Sympathy of Jesus and Good News in human manifestations at the Sunday service. Mrs J B Crabill and daughter left for Arthur after wintering with her parents. Sermon themes for next Sunday include Jesus Mastering Man and Is Christianity Narrow or The Narrowness of Jesus. Broad minded folk are invited.
The church invites all to a Step Forward Sunday with morning services and an 8 pm evening service on Guard Duty. The ad promotes Hollister's Rocky Mountain Tea as a tonic and claims health benefits. Spr Orion Joern visited from Polk Saturday.
Nebraska students from the University of Nebraska will visit Omaha on May 4 for a general reunion with about 1500 visitors expected. The program includes tours to Omaha points of interest a dinner at the Auditorium and an evening of entertainment as part of efforts by the Bureau of Publicity to acquaint Omaha residents with the university and its meaning to the state.
An editorial argues the nation must endure the coming war with patriotism. It contends sacrifices will purify political and social life and bind citizens to a government established by the American revolution. It predicts hardships for families and asks for steadfast support as youths sail for Europe.
