Funeral for Mrs Marquis killed in Rochester auto crash
Funeral services for Mrs W. J. Marquis were held at the Am. M. E. church in Stromsburg after a deadly auto accident near Rochester Minnesota last Thursday. Her husband was seriously injured and Dr. James Marquis, their son at Mayo Bros. hospital, traveled to Stromsburg for the service then returned to Rochester.

Obituary of Mary J. Cummings Drum Pioneer Nebraska settler
Mary J. Cummings Drum was born May 10 1850 near Pennsville Ohio. She married Mathias Drum November 11 1869 and had nine children. Surviving are Emma Belle Dawson Julia Ellege Lovetta Denton Edgar J Drum Percy Drum and Grace Anderson plus 34 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She died April 14 1924 at grand island Nebraska after funeral April 16 in Shelby Nebraska. Funeral followed at Wesley Chapel cemetery beside her husband and three children.

Logarda Van Dorn born in Indiana April 18 1863 moved with family to Illinois then Nebraska in 1880. She married W J Marquis October 21 1884 lived near Stromsburg later in town and ran a hardware store. Survived by husband son Dr James W Marquis and nine siblings. Died near Rochester Minnesota April 10 1924 buried Stromsburg Nebraska April 13 1924. She was a Christian Church member for 28 years and active in Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution.

W. E. Snider received notice of his reappointment as postmaster at the Osenola post office. Homer Hartson and Miss Gladys Snider passed postal clerk examinations with high marks, 98.25 percent and 99.21 percent respectively, after an examiner noted only four errors in Miss Snider’s east half of Nebraska testing.
