Record Floods Ravage Platte Region damaging bridges and towns

Nebraska regions along the Platte and Loup rivers faced record flooding with extensive property loss. Cities including Norfolk Columbus Fremont Valley and Waterloo suffered inundation forcing residents to higher ground as ice jams shifted channels. Bridges were destroyed or washed out, rail service halted, and traffic crippled across many counties.

Fred Lind Seeks Highway Aid for Platte County Roads

Columbus High School Installs New Mathematics Teacher

Miss Ethel Blake has been selected as mathematics teacher at Columbus High School following a faculty shakeup. She completed a special course at the University of Nebraska and comes recommended, though initial conditions were not promising. Miss Martha Plumb, recently at Omaha Business College, visited in the city over Sunday and plans a trip to Vancouver to visit relatives and perhaps pursue a matrimonial venture. Blanch Elwood of Omaha and Lloyd Andrea of Cedar Bluffs, Iowa, visited at Miss Elwood’s sister Mrs Albert Ryan’s home and then left for a trip likely ending in Vancouver.
