The Record and other papers publish sample ballots for the April primary. Four ballots exist Democratic Republican Prohibition and Progressive. Voters should study and understand them in advance and consult if needed. Vote for one when instructed and decide in advance whom to support. BY ALL MEANS VOTE.
The Church Board of the Presbyterian church gathered Friday at G T Ray's store to review church affairs before year end. Secretary and treasurer reports show the fiscal year closed April 1 in satisfactory financial condition.
The Osceola Gun Club elected C. W. Houtz as president Frank Anderson as vice president W. O. Clark as secretary and A. Snider as treasurer at a meeting held at the First National Bank Friday evening A proposal to move the shooting course from the Fair Grounds to the Golf Grounds north of the city was discussed and the Golf Club invited the gun club to use the grounds a committee was named to consider the matter.
The Social Center Poultry Club reorganized this spring with Mrs. Ed Wagner of Osceola as leader. Six youths are members and two more clubs are hoped to form soon to defend Polk County’s loving cup. Prospects look bright for new clubs at Swede Home and southwest of Stromsburg with Ada Larson and Ada Lundstrom named as leaders.

A B Hedbloom, Republican candidate, appeals to Polk County voters, stating 44 years in the county and commitment to farmers, economy, and representing all people. He filed as a citizen candidate and seeks support if nominated and elected.
The Shelby high school debate team defeated Stromsburg at Shelby Monday evening in a unanimous decision. Shelby argued against unrestricted Mexican immigration while Stromsburg held the affirmative. John Dunning led Shelby with strong argument and delivery. other debaters included Mildred Long and Anton Merrick for Shelby and Fay Hubbert Wallace Banta and Raymond Lindquist for Stromsburg.
In Shelby there was strong interest in the election with Sunday baseball approved by 1388 to 135. The Economy party won village board two year seats with Geo Blevins Arthur Scott and J L Peterson elected. School board members elected were J C Rasp and John Brandt for three year terms. G W Ray and O A Watkins won two year terms. Total votes 283 at city election and 219 at school election.
Merry Workers meet at the Presbyterian church. Ladies Aid Society of the M E church gathers at the church. Hostesses include Mesdames Hansen Fillman Clark Van Hoosen Lindquist and Miss McCray. Drama club studies White Dresses under Mrs Cox. Ride-a-wee Club hosts April Fool party at Hansen home with Mr and Mrs L Ray Wilson as guests. Luncheon at 7 pink and green decor. April Fool pie and Progressive 500 games. high and low scores noted. S M D club met at Mrs Jarmin's home on her birthday. Monday Night Club to meet at the Presbyterian Church with Heald Beatty Blake and Mickey. Blanche Rickley to entertain the Gabalets Wednesday afternoon.
After sunny days the Lion of March roared over Polk County bringing a brisk rain, then snow covering the ground and frigid winds. Falls and car incidents occurred but with no serious injuries. Rail service held to schedule while roads froze delaying country work. Osceola geese disrupted by lights. telephone lines temporarily down. Radio listeners in the county stayed ahead using AP broadcasts from Omaha and beyond.
On Main Street after a shower three cars a Buick a Dodge and a Ford lost wheels and crashed into curbs while turning. Butch Schmo ker’s Dodge lost a front wheel as Rev Hendrickson bringing a Ford loaded with country youngsters also shed two wheels. Slippery mud blamed. chains and careful driving advised.
In observance of Grand Army day on April 6 the W A C will host a dinner and program for the G A R Post and families and also for American Legion post members and families on Monday April 7.
Mr and Mrs Alvin Weeden announce the birth of a daughter on March 31. The family shares joy at the new arrival and welcomes blessings for the newborn.

Death of Neal Rakestraw reported with accidental electrocution details on first page.
Dr and Mrs L V Sharp returned Monday from Stanton after attending the funeral of Mrs Sharp's father Frank A Rabey held last Thursday afternoon He was operated on at a Norfolk hospital about two weeks prior and died a week later The piece notes Rabey's memory among many in Stomsburg and lists community events and local movements around town including hospital visits school elections and a concert at the Rialto.

The Osceola Cemetery Association convened at J. L. Heald's office Friday afternoon. Reports from the secretary and treasurer were read and accepted. Officers were reelected: President D. H. Kunkel, Vice-President Frank Anderson, Secretary W. F. Kepner, Treasurer J. L. Heald. A two-member audit committee, J. D. Hartman and Frank Anderson, was appointed to audit the books.
Following a March 6 banquet, 31 cattle owners have not been tested and 10 refuse. Federal and state testers will cover the county to complete testing of 110 infected herds. After re testing, hog raisers may receive a 10 cent per hundred bonus and the county will be protected from importing untested cattle except feeder steers.
Neal T. Rakestraw, manager of the Lincoln Tel and Tel exchange at Polk, was killed instantly when a high power line shock passed through him while inspecting telephone wires on the Polk power building ledge. A World War veteran and American Legion commander, he leaves a wife and a three year old son. Funeral set for Friday at Polk Baptist church with burial in Friend.

Funeral at Swede Home Lutheran Church conducted by Rev C A Sward with choir and soloist Carl Cederberg. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers listed. Asleep in Jesus inscription noted.
