Work Progresses At Mosport
Machinery moved into the Mosport Ltd development north of Orono in early September as workers prepare a bed for a 2.4 mile track. Paving will follow after bed prep, with corners 28 to 33 feet wide, and the project costing about 70000 dollars. The first major event is planned for early May 1961 when the track should be ready.

Two Fires In Darlington Manors Destroy Homes
Over the weekend two fires in the area caused major damage. Mrs. Lockwood's residence near the Clarke Darlington line was totally destroyed. A large barn on Mr. Saundenwas's property in Manvers Township west of McRae's Church was also destroyed. No livestock perished.
Trustees Receive 1970 For Municipal Centre
The Orono Police Trustees met with all members present to review the sidewalk project and budget. They approved exterior and roof painting for the Municipal Building, and a $1970 renovation payment. notes on by laws, tolls, and road upkeep were discussed with several letters and requests for municipal action.

Bill Tamblyn son of Mr and Mrs Carlos Tamblyn attends OAC in Guelph and received a 400 bursary from the Atkinson Foundation. He began a four year degree last week after graduating Bowmanville and Orono Public School. Bruce Bowman, son of Mr and Mrs Wilfred Bowman, also enrolled at Guelph last week and received a 400 bursary from the same foundation.

Park Board Sign Contract To Start New Pool
Two Oshawa men were fined for hunting without a licence and for possessing a pheasant during closed season. Hazen Walker paid 15 dollars plus 3 dollars costs. a 25 dollar fine and costs followed for the pheasant charge. Russell Bannister faced 15 dollars and 11 dollars costs for licence violations. Deputy Bill Ashton caught both in Darlington Township. Open pheasant season runs Oct 8 to Oct 29 in Clarke and Darlington Townships. Special township licences are required for pheasant hunting.

Orono hosts rescue training for area fire crews
Forty five members from Northumberland and Durham Counties fire departments attended a Thursday session in Orono. Herb Mallory of the Ontario Fire Marshal's office led instruction on ladder and rope rescue techniques. H. M. Mercer welcomed the group for the Orono Police Trustees. Lunch followed at the Town Hall. The next aid night will be in Campbellford on October 27.
