At the Durham Central Agricultural Fair in Orono attendees enjoyed a large turnout despite cool winds. Safe Robbery Hits Orono Creamery Second Time in a Month
Thieves loaded an unopenable safe into a 1941 black sedan and drove away with about 1500 in cash and 4500 in cheques after breaking into the Orono Creamery. Police were informed in Bowmanville as a description of the car surfaced. A second safe raid followed a prior theft, with three suspects moved to four, insurance reportedly covering the loss.

Chamber Of Commerce Plans Overseas Cigarette Fund
Orono Chamber of Commerce resumes meetings after a two month break. Members discussed using the profits from July sports day to send cigarettes to about fifty soldiers overseas, each receiving 300 cigarettes, with a fall concert to raise additional funds. A committee led by R E Logan, F Q Cooper and J C Tamblyn will organize the effort and collect soldier addresses.
