Wartime Prices and Trade Board reports considerable progress in the milk can program to meet higher production demands this year. Leslie Burrows of Metal Containers says arrangements are in place to supply enough steel to extend the quota beyond 140 percent of 1940 production if needed.

Trio to be tried on September 9

Norman Sipence 17 Gerald Gouldby 17 and Henry Peterson 18 from Toronto are charged with breaking and entering and theft from the Orono Creamery in August. Magistrate E A Gee in Cobourg adjourned to September 9 at Crown Attorney Harry J R Deyman request. Spence protested the $5,000 bail as too high and said he had no part in the theft.

Port Hope Plans $130,000 Flood Control Project

Orono Fair Opens With Health Minister Hon R Percy Vivian

Hon P Vivian will open the Orono Fair on Saturday September 11 with Dr Vivian of Port Hope visiting, followed by livestock judging, horse races, and entertainment at the grandstand. A Friday dance in Newcastle Hall features Russ Creighton, and Saturday evening concert in Orono Town Hall caps the event.
