Orono residents head to the polls on Monday October 21 at the Orono Municipal Building to decide on a municipal water system. The Yes No vote asks ratepayers to approve a contract with Ontario Water Resources Commission for a 175000 project with potential Winter Works savings of twenty percent and estimated $1 weekly cost per home.

Clarke Conservatives Hold Annual Meeting
The Clarke Township Progressive Conservative Association met at Oddfellows Hall on Saturday October 22 with sixty two attendees. Orono Park To Complete New Pool This Year
The Orono Swimming Pool reaches the plastering stage with cement bottom and walls done and coping installed. The board plans to erect a fence before freeze up and fill the tank to protect it from winter cracking. Donations for the pool fund total 6,670.72 with about 6,000 more needed including a provincial grant of around 3,000.

Fire Department Answers Call Monday
Orono Fire Department responded to a blaze at a Forestry property frame house near Town line and Clarke fifth line. Fire started from stove pipes on the second level. firefighters used water from pails and operated new self-contained gas masks for the first time to extinguish the flames.
