Alexander Walker 56 of 42 Liberty Street North Bowmanville died after a tractor reared and crushed him on the Downham Nursery property opposite Shaws School while he and co worker Henry Janzen were digging up cherry trees. He died from a broken neck and abdominal injuries at Bowmanville Memorial Hospital. Services were held at Morris Funeral Chapel Bowmanville with interment in Orono Cemetery.
