Orono Lodge No. 4386 TOOF held its annual installation on October 14 with visiting Brothers from Oshawa Whitby Cobourg and Bowmanville. The program featured Rogerson School of Dancing and Crone Ledge staff installed officers for the year. The event included honors 50 year 25 year veterans 143 attendees and a buffet lunch with dancing afterward.

The regular monthly Evening Auxiliary met on Thursday October 15 in the Sunday School Auditorium led by president Eileen Billings. Beth Sherwin led the Missions Group devotional on Thanksgiving with Mary Tamblyn scripture. duets by Mrs J T Brown and Mrs M Sallows with piano by Mrs C Cowan. Dorothy Bailey led the Study Book. Hilda Tamblyn spoke on the A O W W World Convention in Toronto. Minutes treasurer and business followed. Mizpah Benediction ended with pumpkin pie dessert and social hour.

The Oddfellows and Rebekahs propose a one story cement block hall 50 by 70 feet behind Armstrong's store north of the Armories facing Church Street. The coincluded design includes a vestibule anti room, waiting room, two washrooms, two large lodge rooms, a kitchen, storage and heating plant. One lodge room will host banquets and dances as a community centre. Financing will rely on member contributions and public fundraising events.

Cavan Two Approves High School Proposal in Port Hope
Cavan township council approves the Durham County District High School Board plan to build a $1,050,000 high school in Port Hope and add $800,000 to Bowmanville high. Grants total $1,060,000 with $612,000 for Port Hope and $448,000 for Bowmanville. The county to raise the balance by about 1.5 mills in tax.

Orono Orphans Club Nets Funds With Carnival Draw
The Orono Orphans Hockey Club closed its Carnival and Draw at Orono Arena after a town parade by Bowermanville Training School Band. About 300 attendees watched ten prize winners receive bicycles silverware gasoline a mixmaster .22 rifle radio and more while funds raised are estimated at 400 to 500 dollars.
