E R Lovekin serves as Past President and treasurer, Grenaholme Hughes as President, Harry Watle as 1st Vice President, W J Bragg as 2nd Vice President, John Rickard as 3rd Vice President, Roger Kilpatrick Lee as 4th Vice President, John Burns as Publicity Director. Mr Scott of Hope Township chaired the nominating committee, with HK Woodyard acting as returning officer.

Mrs J T Morrison widow of James T Morrison dies after a two year illness in Orono aged 89. Survived by two sons Frank and Alvin and grandson Dennis, all in North America. Minnie Hall was her birth name and she was the youngest daughter of Daniel and Annie Hall.

The Orono Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Orono Restaurant urged the police trustees to hold a water vote at the earliest date, preferably December election. The High C Group drew a large attendance on Sunday November fourth with twenty six members. Members heard about the group’s support plans and watched skits by Jean Tamblyn Faye Nicholson Patty Partner and Troy Taggart and by Ross Tamblyn Dane Rogerson and Howard Stapleton. The program discussed dating and inter faith dating yes or no. Rev Long warned the path would be long and difficult and soul searching might be needed if such a marriage occurred. The meeting closed with a benediction after a scripture reading and prayer by Howard Stapleton Diane Gilbart.

Allan Beer of Bethany captured the Durham County Liberal nomination on the first ballot over Weston Bannister and Glen James. Beer, a Manvers Township farmer and GM Oshawa worker, has served as council member and deputy reeve, and was warden in 1955, with Bruce Beer his politically active brother.

Miss Dora Purdon Dies In Hospital
Miss Dora Purdon a public health nurse for the Northumberland Durham Health Unit died suddenly on Wednesday October 31 in Memorial Hospital Bowmanville. She was 47 born March 25 1916 in York County and lived in Bowmanville 14 years. She served Trinity United Church and held multiple recreation and art associations roles. Survived by sister Margaret Bowmanville and brother Harold Markham. Funeral Friday November 2 at 2 p.m. at Northcutt and Smith Bowmanville conducted by Rev W K Houslander. Cremation at St James Cemetery and Crematorium Toronto.
