Senior Warden's Team Loses Masonic Ladies Night Race

The Masonic Ladies' Night on May 17 featured Cecil McLaren as Senior Warden leading the losing team against W. Hawke's winning team with Worshipful Master Chas. Tyrrell hosting in the lodge room. R. E. Logan sang, then candles lit the banquet hall for a memorable evening with Jimmie Jackson providing entertainment.

W I Meeting Discusses Hymn Loan and Charities

The May W I meeting held May 18 in the council chamber with the new President presiding approved sending 5 cases of honey overseas again this year subject to availability. A $10 donation to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind via Bowmanville West Durham Advisory Committee and a $5 donation to the Canadian Tuberculosis Association were approved. The War Work Committee led by Mrs. R. A. Delve organized the program featuring Anna Staples Betty Linton Kathleen Chapman H Rowe and Mrs. Delve. A prize for the mother of the youngest child was awarded and lunch followed with the National Anthem to close.

Park Street United Church Honors Flags with Armistice Service

Park Street United Church held Sunday services thanking God for the cessation of hostilities in Europe. The morning service featured a specially approved order with prayers and readings, and two flags were dedicated, a Union Jack and the Christian Flag, plus a gift flag from the Riddell family. Flowers were provided by Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Brown in observance of Mother's Day. Mrs. Littlewood preached a Mother’s Day sermon in the evening.
