Orono High School Students Travel To Ottawa

Orono High School sent sixty Junior Homemaking Club members on a two day trip to Ottawa after raising funds through dances, commencements, and other events. The trip included visits to Laurier House, the Mint, War Museum, and Parliament Buildings with guided city tours and a top of the Peace Tower view.

Women’s Institute Hosts May Meeting and Home Nursing Demo

The Women’s Institute met in the Sunday School room with president Mrs. N Kennedy presiding. Mrs J C Gamey of Orono demonstrated home nursing, including patient bathing, room ventilation, and health tips. Funds were allocated to the Institute for the Blind and Crippled Children, and officers were installed.

Coronation Tea Display At St Saviour's Parish Hall

St Saviours hosts a Coronation Tea on Thursday May 28 featuring old and new quilt patterns. The WA ladies invite friends to view quilts some over fifty years old with stories attached. Tea served 3 to 5 30 pm for 25 cents. Volunteers may loan quilts via Mrs J Morris or Mrs F Wall.

Cedar Dale Man-O-War Dorothy of Cedar Dale Stock Farms Orono Ont earns Silver Seal for over 150000 pounds milk. In ten lactations she produced 155664 pounds milk 5315 pounds fat with four 305 day qualifications. Her best 6 year form yielded 607 pounds fat from 18173 pounds milk. At fourteen a record 478 pounds fat from 14970 pounds milk. daughter of Man-O-War Dictator she is rated Good Plus in Selective Registration.

W C T U May Meeting At Orono United Church

The Women's Christian Temperance Union met in the Sunday School Room of Orono United Church with Mrs H Walsh presiding. Mrs H Rowe led devotion on The Life of Barabus and hymns were sung. Mrs G Carson reported on the County Convention held in Orono and a pair of contests entertained attendees. The gathering closed with spirited singing of We bless our cause and God save our Queen.

Farmers Should Be On Watch For Yellow Rocket

Durham County Agricultural Repre- Two years ago E. A. Summers observed fields east of Kingston along No 2 Highway infested with this weed. The perennial yellow rocket appears early in new seeds or old meadows and blooms by mid May with yellow flowers resembling mustard.

Pretty Newcastle Wedding of Margaret Stephenson and Robert Boyd

Margaret Grace Stephenson and Robert Ross Boyd wed at St George Anglican Church Newcastle on May 9. The ceremony featured music by Mrs. John Garrod and soloist Mrs. Wm. Stork, with bridal attire including champaign satin gown and pearl Juliet cap. The reception followed at the bride’s home and the couple plan to reside at 154 King St East Bowmanville.
