Drowning Shocks Orono Community
Sixteen year old Robert Best of Orono died drowning at Garden Hill Conservation Area pond while swimming with friend Ted Stark. Best, an honour student at Clarke High School, had recently earned the first School Letter for scholastic and athletic achievement and won seven firsts in eight events at Clarke track day. Survived by Horace and Mrs. Best, sister Anne and brother Ronald, funeral held at Orono United Church with burial in Orono Cemetery.

Charles T. Miller Dies at 82 in Orono Village
Charles Thomas Miller of Centre Street Orono died Wednesday morning at age 82. He worked with Red Rose Tea in Toronto before retiring as company manager and returning to Orono to serve on local boards including the Orono Telephone Company Board, the Police Trustees, and the Hydro Commission. He is survived by his wife Mary Miller, a patient in Oshawa General Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Morris Funeral Chapel Bowmanville.
