Liberals Hold Durham County Meeting In Orono
A large delegation from Durham County Liberal Association met at Oddfellows Hall Orono on Monday March 9 1959. President Elmore Scott chaired. Delegates elected to the Ontario Liberal Association convention in Toronto April 3 1959 include Ted Woodyard Gordon Trick E R Lovekin Mrs Alice Cleary Mrs Mollie Kent and Lawrence Scully. Alternates chosen were William Bragg Elmore Scott Harry Wade Thomas White Frank Rickard Neil Malcolm. Proceeds from $1 membership cards will fund the provincial campaign. Ted Woodyard spoke of a rising Liberal trend in Ontario and urged action.

Father And Son Banquet Held For Cubs Scouts Orono
Orono Cubs and Scouts and about sixty fathers and sons gathered for the annual Father and Son Banquet at the United Church Sunday School Auditorium. Cub Leader Donald Goode introduced guests including Mrs. N. Bailey and Rev. Basil E. Long. Toasts were given by Dr. R. J. Taggart and Bob Luxon, gifts were presented to leaders, and a Baden Powell play followed by a baseball film featuring Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig capped the evening.

Holstein Representatives Hold Annual Meeting
Holstein representatives from East Central Ontario met at the Department of Agriculture office with 25 delegates from ten counties and four national directors. Harold McCaul was named divisional committee chairman and debate covered class judging changes while 9,406 Holsteins were shown by 902 exhibitors at Ontario Black and White Days, Waterloo leading with 208 head.

A report to the Northumberland and Durham Health Unit by Dr. Charlotte M. Horner shows February rabies data with 26 animal reports including 12 foxes and 7 bovines from Northumberland, and 12 from Durham. The month lists 145 communicable diseases and notes a TB death in the health unit area. Public health nurses conducted 511 home visits and 72 consultants for maternal and child health.
