A joint Field Day and Picnic of the Victoria, Durham and Peterboro Holstein Clubs was held at Peterboro Exhibition grounds on June 21. Dr H D Branson urged building up cattle during pasture season due to potential mineral scarcity this winter. Over 200 attended as M W McConkey chaired. James T Brown and others announced judging results with multiple prize winners in Ladies Men Girls and Boys divisions and special prizes for the oldest participant and largest family.

Tractor accident burns farm owner near Pontypool
Neil Curtiss 28 was severely burned when his tractor overturned on Friday June 20 near Pontypool two miles west. Gas tank exploded, gasoline sprayed him and caught fire. he was treated at Oshawa Hospital in fair condition. Eyewitness Fred Willis, 19, helped extinguish flames. Brother Ifford drove him to hospital. The injury is described as the worst such accident in years in the Pontypool area.

Nail Price Hike Authorized by Wartime Board
