Bethany School Principal Brecks Neck Diving Accident
Peter Sherston 85 principal of Bethany School led 27 students on a summer swimming expedition at the old village mill pond near Bethany. He struck the bottom while diving and was found unconscious at four feet, rushed to Peterboro Civic Hospital in very serious condition. Students did not see him surface and retrieved him from the pond.

Decoration Day Service At Orono Cemetery
The annual Decoration Day service was held Sunday afternoon in Orono Cemetery with a large turnout. The grounds looked splendid thanks to caretaker H. W. Murray. The Orono Citizens' Band performed as President Heber Louch opened the service. Rev. D. R. Dewdney led in prayer and Rev. A. E. Eustace gave the address while the band provided hymn music.

Miss Garendolyn Mitchell became the bride of Burns Kittmer at Kittmer-Mitchell St. Saviour's Anglican Church Orono on a Saturday afternoon in June. The bride wore a long white lace gown with a floor length veil and carried red roses. The matron of honor Mrs. Albert Mitchell wore blue and carried red roses. Ushers included Finley Kittmer and George Mitchell. Rev. D. D. Dewdney officiated before a large gathering. Decorations featured pink and white peonies. tea was served by Mrs. Kirkbride Oshawa and Girl Guides assisted. Gifts included pearls for the bride and a leather valet for the groom.
