Decoration Day at the Orono Cemetery is set for Sunday June 28 with all welcome to decorate graves and meet friends. No service is planned this year. Fraternal societies are asked to participate in grave decoration and water will be provided.
An ARP meeting convened at Dr. A F McKenzie’s home formed an executive committee with G M Linton as Chairman J J Mellor as Secretary H E Clarke as Chief Warden and Public Utilities Controller J Morris as Transport Controller F O Cooper as Fire Controller W J Riddell and C S McLaren named Wardens for the north and south village ends. Applications are now available for residents to join ARP work by contacting H E Clarke or J J Mellor to sign papers.
A Brown trout was caught near Orono by Ken Gamsby at the flume by the Forestry station. The 16 inch fish is the season’s first brown trout there, with two or three caught at that spot last season. The article notes only the odd trout travels up the stream and timing determines the luck.
