Free Tuberculosis Survey Planned For Three Townships
Three Ontario townships Clarke Cartwright and Manvers will host a free chest X ray survey starting July 2 1947 under the Ontario Tuberculosis Association and Boc hmanville Lions Club. Dr George Miller urged all residents over school age to participate with house to house canvassing prior to the clinic running July 2 1947 to July 10 1947.

Clara Heillen Wellstood 66 dies in Bowmanville
After a week of illness Clara Heillen Wellstood beloved wife of John Fisk Orono died in Bowmanville on May 14 1947. Born February 5 1881 at Cameron she was a former schoolteacher and church worker. Survived by husband seven sons two daughters nine grandchildren and siblings. Funeral at St Saviours Orono with Rev Bewdney. interment in McCreas cemetery.

Girls' Softball League Organ ized With Four Entries
In June the Girl Guides plan a two week camp at Pigeon Lake near Rev Littlewood’s Bob caysteon. Many Orono girls seek to earn 25¢ an hour by odd jobs to join the camp under supervision with a nurse present. Mrs Gilbart at 527 10 is arranging Guide helpers for tasks like lawn care, cleaning, painting, tidying, meals, and child care.
