Clarke Township taxes unfair under County and District High School

In a letter to the editor E. Dent argues Clarke Township pays 18.1 mills total for County and District High School taxes per thousand of assessment, almost double Newcastle and Bowmanville's combined 9–9.87 mills, due to unequal County Equalized Assessment. He urges council protest and immediate action to ensure fair, inter-municipal re assessment and tax relief.

Mayors Gear Up For Plowing Match In Cobourg

Mayor Allan Lamport of Toronto will compete again in the International Plowing Match at the United Counties Farm between Port Hope and Cobourg. Orono Bantam Baseball Opens Season On The Road

Orono Pupils Present In Old Mexico At Town Hall

Last Friday night a full house enjoyed Meander with Margot as Orono Public School pupils staged an evening of entertainment at Town Hall. Gail Cooper led as the Princess with Everett Couvier as Pedro and Bob Knox in the singing professor role. The show featured strong younger-children performances, effective costumes by Mrs Linton, and art-class made rancho accessories.
