Health Unit Extends Work in High Schools
In 1950 the Health Unit plans to expand its program to secondary schools in Northumberland and Durham Counties. Health supervision begins in infancy with nurse home visits and immunization clinics. In 1950 routine medical exams for elementary students will continue into secondary schools, then shift to targeted guidance for individual students, reinforcing the role of the family doctor.

Central Durham Bull Club of Orono and J J E McCague of Alliston announce Glen Georhinum Durham Bull as Reserve All Canadian Senior Yearling Bull for 1949. He and sister Gleniafiton Laurel Colantha formed the All Canadian Produce of Dam from Little Rock Pabst Colantha. Futurity was Junior and Grand Champion at Peterboro and placed third at the Royal Winter Fair.

Demonstration Of Grafting At Orono Horticultural Meeting
The Orono Horticultural Society held its January meeting at St Saviour s Parish Hall with Frank Hall presiding. A grafting demonstration by Mgr J Hamm and talks on tree planting and care followed the treasurer s report showing 53 46 balance. Officers elected include Mrs Frank Hall president and W H Davey treasurer, with several directors and auditors named. Delegates to the Hamilton convention were J D Brown and W H Davey.

Neil S Stewart reengaged as Supervisor of Music for nine rooms. Mrs J J Mellor remains secretary treasurer. Insurance on Newtonville Schools raised by 1500 dollars after renovations.
