Sunday Fund Drive At Orono Park For Better Facilities

The Orono Park board discussed park finances and repairs including the swimming tank and water quality. They considered a Sunday admission charge to fund maintenance and a $2.50 fee for organized picnics, with a vote passing a 25 cent Sunday entrance levy.

Life Membership Awarded Mrs M J Tamblyn To Orono

The January Wo man s Association meeting opened with hymn and prayer. Mrs Tamblyn received a life membership certificate and pin in appreciation of her faithful service to church activities. Secretaries reports and reminders to visit the sick followed the devotion and business concluding with Mizpah benediction.

Obituary for Polly Bona Mellor 1885 1953 Ontario

Polly Bona Mellor passed away at her home in Crone Ontario on December 31 1953 at age 68 she lived in Orono and Crone for many years. She taught dietetics after study at Lillian Massey Toronto and served in Clarke Township public life and church activities. She leaves a sister Norma Collins a brother J E Collins daughter Mary Rutherford four grandchildren and many relatives. Funeral at Orono United Church with burial in Orono Cemetery donations to Ontario Cancer Society.

Orono Orphans Suffer A Narrow Loss In Three-Game Week

Orono Orphans played three games this week, dropping a 5 4 decision at Port Hope Arena to Lindsay. Charles Armstrong scored three for Orono with other goals by Armstrong and Corrie, while Lindsay benefited from a pair of power play chances and steady team defense.

Former Urone Resident Dies in Oshawa

The obituary details the life of Mrs. Farewell born August 2, 1852 in Orone. She married Ackius M. Farewell on February 28, 1881 and lived 72 years in Harmony district. She was a Centre Street United Church member, survived by no immediate family, and passed Friday around noon with funeral services held January 11 at Centre Street United Church. Orono Orphans Dominate Port Hope in Hockey Clash

The Orono Orphans defeated Port Hope Redmen 7 to 5 in Port Hope with Dean West scoring two unassisted goals and Phillip, Johnson, D West, Sohrty, and Armstrong contributing. Penalties disrupted play, and a later Coloure loss 5 to 2 featured two unassisted West goals and strong discipline issues.
