United Church Expects To Be Free Of Deli By Spring
The Orono United Church held its annual congregational meeting with strong turnout. Reports show 268 on the roll, numerous weddings, funerals, and baptisms, and major yard work completed. The minister’s salary was raised, and a memorial window honoring Minnie Hall was approved. A gift of 300 to the kitchen was announced and the meeting closed after a lunch.

Orone Fair Board Adds Property To Existing Grounds
The Durham Central Agricultural Society held its annual meeting with good attendance. President Carlos Tamblyn outlined improvements including repaired fences new bridges and purchase of land north of the grounds for 550 dollars. The 1954 fair dates are September 10 and 11. Delegates Tamblyn Mrs Carlos Tamblyn and A Blanchard attend Ontario Fairs in Toronto February 11 and 12. Albert Morton awarded Agricultural Society Service Diploma.

Evening Auxiliary Holds January Meeting at President’s Home

Counties Council Denies Orono Area Incorporation

Orono defeated Lakefield 7 to 2 in Cobourg Arena as Dean West led with four goals and one assist. Other scorers were Robinson Raye West and Legree with assists to Armstrong Mercer and Junior West. penalties scattered with Armstrong slasings and Pightins Raye West in the sin bin. Lakefield totaling twelve minutes in penalties. The Cobourg game saw 18 goals and overtime 10–8 Cobourg as overtime decided the winner.
