Township approves Caterpillar Grader purchase and raises debentures
At the January council meeting the Township approved buying a Caterpillar Grader for 21 820 dollars with trade in and two scheduled payments in July and October 1960. Debentures totaling 78 thousand dollars were discussed for four new classrooms as part of the South Darlington Public School Area Board plan.

Orono hosts and travels including exhibitions in January February while Millbrook may join later. A joint resolution seeks to revive Intermediate Hockey and adjust imports rules for the OHA.

Mission Band Hosts January Meeting in Orono
The Orono Mission Band held a regular meeting on Wednesday January 6 with 26 present. Mrs Drummond opened with a Mission Band Song and led worship. Sharon Allen acted as secretary and reported last meeting’s collection of 2.67 while current collection totaled 1.05.

Schedule Set For Minor Hockey Between Orono And Millbrook
Coaches from Orono and Millbrook arranged a three week schedule limiting to one game per week to protect students. Home games include Bantams Atom and Pee Wee with times on Fridays and Tuesdays. A week long rink schedule from Thursday to Wednesday lists skate times for Orono and Millbrook groups and public sessions.

Hi-Teens New Year Frolic Draws $45 Prize
Orono Hi-Teens hosted a New Year’s Eve dance at Township Hall with Serenaires Orchestra Peterboro providing music. Seventy five couples attended the festive event with a buffet lunch and lighted candles. A 50-50 draw raised ninety dollars, netting a forty five dollar prize to T. Whitlock of Oshawa, clearing expenses.
