Orono Commission Hires New Manager in 1967
The Orono Hydro Commission hired Melville Downs of Streetsville as manager, effective September 1 1967, bringing twenty two years of hydro system experience to the post amid the commission noting Downs has strong water operation background. In Orono, Mrs Norman Andrews and her two children Freddie and Marie were hospitalized after a Monday afternoon collision on the 4th line of Clarke east of Highway 115, with Mrs Andrews sustaining facial cuts and leg injuries and both cars suffering considerable damage.

The Durham Liberal Association held its annual picnic at Walton Park inviting crowds from Durham and Northumberland. Speakers included MP Russell C. Honey and provincial candidates E. R. Lovekin Robin Russell and Jim Potticary. Prizes went to Mil ton Tamblyn Arnold Wade and John Sweep. games and pony rides entertained children.

About forty choir members their wives and friends attended a luncheon at the home of Mr and Mrs R D Morton on Sunday July 30 at 1230 The hosts greeted guests on the lawn at Dickadel then hosted a buffet repast The event marked the choir season closure until September with thanks expressed by Mrs Morton Mrs Drummond Rev Leng and the Mortons praised the choir and hospitality A few pictures were taken ending a pleasant afternoon

Ontario Durham College to be renamed Durham College
The Ontario Durham Community College of Applied Arts and Technology will be called Durham College. Board of governors approved the change with ministerial consent. President Dr Gordon E Willey notes strong internal facilities and staff but warns enrolment is below expectations with 42 applications so far and room for about 250 students in the first year. Classes begin September 18 after staff arrive August 1. two new staff join as secretary-treasurer and registrar amid recent construction delays and water supply negotiations.
