A historic page records the Oak Orono United Church ceremony laying the corner stone of the Christian Education Building. The project aims to open in September to serve 300 to 400 children and adults with soundproof classrooms and dedicated assembly spaces.
Doris Dunham twenty from Campbellford died at Oshawa General Hospital after a two car crash on the No 401 Newtonville interchange. The car she rode in with David Clegg twenty five Cen tralia Royal Canadian Air Force Station lost control and rolled. Clegg was injured. Adele Cepelia thirty five Willowdale was treated.
Help is requested to speed improvements at the Orono rink. Too few are carrying the workload, and more hands will benefit both the facility and hockey this winter. Contact Jack Moffat, Orono, for details and volunteering.
Mr. Les All dred submitted a photo from the Clarke Township Hall construction in Orono dated 1898 showing the near-complete building with scaffolding and an unfinished west chimney. Workmen and possibly the reeve in a coon-skin coat appear atop the scaffold. the image is now with the Township office.
