Hope Township Moves to Ban Deer Hunt Again
Hope Township Council passed a motion to urge the Lands and Forests department to enact a deer hunting ban in the township mirroring last year. An exception covers public forest areas north under Ganaraska Conservation Authority. Deputy Reeve George Finnie and Councillor Weston Banister said the ban targets southern and central agricultural areas to protect people livestock and property. Last year shooting was prohibited for the first 15 days of November.

Experimental Plot At Kendal Viewed By Tobacco Growers
On viewed Thursday evening at the farm of Roy Foster an experimental tobacco plot drew a large turnout of tobacco growers. Researchers from the Federal Department of Agriculture including L S Vickery J M Elliott and Norman Sheldon outlined trials with various fertilizers and sprays to identify causes of defective plants and grey tobacco. They noted new tobacco types to suit company demands and local growing conditions, and explained a sucker control oil claimed to be up to 80 percent effective when applied before shoots exceed two inches. The oil runs down the stem to kill suckers without harming leaves.
